Marking the brand’s 10th anniversary, this season’s concept is “The Winter Evolution.”

The collection features 10 styles in 22 colours, bringing the forms of various types of footwear, including loafers, setta, sneakers and ballet flats, into the world of winter sandals.

For ten years, we have continued our research.

We have pursued a question no one had ever asked:

“Do people really need sandals in winter?”

The evolution of footwear has always accompanied the history of humankind.

We wrapped our feet in grass, wove leather, and used fur to protect ourselves from the cold.

Shoes evolved with the times, eventually becoming a means of fashion and self-expression.

Yet no matter how far civilisation advanced,

the idea of wearing sandals in winter remained absent from the lineage of footwear evolution.

So we formed a hypothesis.

— If we could create footwear that lets people enjoy the cold rather than simply endure it,

would winter become a better season for humankind?

Through repeated prototyping and refinement, SUBU took shape over the course of ten years.

Insulation, comfort, and a construction that lets you walk outdoors.

Every element represented an evolution towards a future of comfort and relaxation.

Now, we have reached a conclusion.

SUBU is more than just a sandal.

It is a product that rewrites winter from the ground up.

This is a turning point in the evolution of footwear, a winter branching point.

This is the theory of evolution we have arrived at.
