SUBU FW25 Collection Review | Part 1
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the brand.
Looking ahead to the next ten years, we are guided by the themes of evolution and diversity, while staying true to our core values of comfort and functionality in product development.
In the past, we introduced new colors and designs, but this year, we went further by updating the functionality across various collections. While retaining the uniqueness of winter sandals, we aimed to create a lineup that is diverse both in design and function.
We continue to offer a wide range of colors, allowing wearers to enjoy SUBU according to their personal taste and lifestyle.
Over the past 2–3 years, more people have been wearing SUBU as fashion items, so we focused on adding a sense of fun, excitement, and surprise. Our goal is to bring comfort, delight, and playful surprise to winter footwear.
Starting with SUBU Originals (F-Line)
As the original and foundational collection, we kept the classic colors while adding two new colors: Smoke Green and Dark Brown, and two new patterns: Checker and Cow Brown.
- Dark Brown is a mature, autumn/winter-friendly color.
- Smoke Green has a natural, slightly muted tone rather than a bright primary color — a sophisticated shade that will likely appeal to everyone, regardless of gender.
- Checker provides a visually striking yet urban, sophisticated feel, adding playful touches to everyday outfits.
- Cow Brown stands out, offering the perfect accent to a stylish look.
Originals
New this year: Circle Collection
The Outline collection already offers a refined, sporty look with its original stitching, but this year we launched Circle, which has an even more sophisticated expression.
Circle features soft curves and a subtle cuteness unique to round shapes, making it perfect for streetwear fashion.
Since Outline and Circle have distinct personalities, they’re recommended for anyone looking for a “slightly different SUBU.”
RE: Collection
Started in 2022, now in its fourth season.
RE: represents Recycle / Rebirth / Rethink. This year, we wanted to not only use sustainable materials but also refresh the overall impression of the collection.
We aimed for a more fashionable, street-oriented RE: and chose eco-leather that is not derived from animals.
The material looks like matte leather, has a soft, premium feel, and is environmentally friendly—you can be eco-conscious without compromising on style.
NANNEN +H
NANNEN, known for being fire-resistant and ideal for campfires, has become a staple. This year, we upgraded it to be outdoor-friendly, not just fire-resistant.
NANNEN +H allows you to move freely, even on uneven terrain or natural environments, making it a perfect companion for active outdoor adventures, not just relaxing by a fire.
Walking on gravel or unpaved paths can be challenging, so we received requests for better fit and stability.
Adding a heel belt helps secure the foot, improving comfort on rough terrain.
It also works for people with smaller feet — the belt ensures a snug fit, preventing shoes from feeling loose. If a couple shares one pair, the belt can help the partner with smaller feet wear the same size comfortably.
The belt is removable, so you can revert to the classic fit when not needed — making this a versatile pair for all situations.
Where to start for first-time buyers?
We recommend starting with the Originals — the core, foundational model.
All collections are equally comfortable, but Originals have the longest history and have been refined over time.
If you haven’t tried SUBU yet, start with the classic Originals.
After that, consider your lifestyle and use case, and explore fashion-forward options (RE:), outdoor-ready (NANNEN), or eco-friendly (RE:) for your next pair.
