Our journey began with a clear goal: to create a product composed of at least 50% recycled materials. Through careful selection of materials for the upper fabric, inner padding, and outsole, we ultimately achieved a design that incorporates approximately 70% recycled content. In addition to sustainability, we wanted to enhance the product’s aesthetic by thoughtfully integrating these materials. We chose and developed fabrics that offer a fresh appeal while keeping the use of recycled components as discreet as possible.
We were especially meticulous when it came to the outsole, developing an original material that met our high standards. Our challenge was to craft materials that not only maintained SUBU’s signature comfort but also elevated the design — making the materials part of the product’s unique style, all while ensuring it looked effortlessly cool.

Regenerated cellulose fiber "Bemberg"
Moisturizing / Hygroscopic heat generating effect
SOLE: RECYCLED POLYSTYRENE 20% BLEND
We do not want to make any loud or bold statements, but we think it is important to sustain this collection, so that we can continue to strive, and improve the quality. As a brand, it is important that we continue to work and progress. And so, our plan is to continue this challenge and develop even more attractive RE: products. To improve the quality of our products, it is especially important for us to hear directly from the people who wear SUBU. We have learned a lot, of the many different ways and reasons people wear SUBU. We are thrilled and inspired by every voice.
