Following the first part of our review, let’s talk about this season’s highlight — the VAMP.
This collection represents a new challenge that will symbolize the next 10 years for us.
For the past decade, SUBU has been loved by many as an easy-to-wear winter sandal. But for the next 10 years, we want to take on new challenges through this, so we introduced SUBU with a heel — the VAMP Collection.
We’ve received many requests for a SUBU that is easier to walk in, so we hope many of you will try this new model. It’s a pair that combines warmth with ease of movement.

VAMP is not only warm, but also easy to move in. The heel is wrapped in a way that gives a light impression yet prevents slipping off, fitting the foot securely. At the same time, it’s not a lace-up shoe, so it’s still easy to slip on and off.
Previously, the heart of SUBU was its four-layer insole, but the VAMP features our newly developed HEXMAX INSOLE™, an innovative upgrade.
About the HEXMAX INSOLE™
Each insole is made up of about 250 hexagonal pillars that absorb impact while walking or standing. It has a two-layer structure: ultra high-resilience PU material and urethane foam.
The high-purity, ultra high-resilience PU (close to natural rubber) provides excellent energy return and quick recovery, preventing excessive sinking while making steps light and responsive. It also retains its elasticity over long use.
It absorbs the impact of landing and converts it into forward momentum, supporting a comfortable and powerful walking experience.
The insole is removable — you can even place it in your own sneakers or leather shoes to experience its cushioning and shock absorption. We hope you’ll try it and feel the difference for yourself!
A Sleeker Look
Compared to previous slip-on SUBU models, the VAMP has a more compact, slimmer, sneaker-like shape. It’s designed more for town use than outdoor scenes — comfortable and easy to move in.
At trade shows, the feedback has been excellent. Many people even said, “I’d buy the insole alone!”
If it’s your first pair, go for the VAMP F-LINE. For a more stylish look, choose the VAMP Outline.
And for those who enjoy unique fashion and want to make a statement with their footwear, the VAMP Platform is recommended. It adds height and was designed with women in mind.
The 10th Anniversary Is Coming Next Year
When the brand first started, the idea of wearing sandals in winter didn’t exist — it was far from normal. But now, it’s become natural for people to think, “Let’s enjoy winter comfortably with SUBU.” The past 10 years have been about gaining that recognition and trust.
Around our fourth or fifth year, we began exhibiting at overseas trade shows, and as we received positive reactions from people of different cultures and lifestyles, that feeling gradually turned into confidence.
We feel that SUBU has now been accepted as footwear, so from here, we want to enhance the brand’s experiential value.
Our flame-resistant model, NANNEN, is an example of that direction — we’ll continue listening to feedback from customers and developing products together with them. We want the next decade to be about direct connection and shared growth of the SUBU brand.
